Bishop Stephanos meets with Most Rev. Ronald P. Fabbro, CSB, the Bishop of the Diocese of London

The Eparchial Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos met with Most Rev. Ronald P. Fabbro, CSB, the Bishop of the Diocese of London and Most Rev. Joseph Dabrowski, C.S.M.A., the Auxiliary Bishop and Vicar for Priests in the Diocese of London. Rt. Rev. Msgr. Gigi Philip and Rev. Fr. Varghese Anchanithadhil, the Pastor and Associate Pastor of St. Mary's Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, Toronto were also present.

World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life

In 1997, Pope Saint John Paul II instituted a day of prayer for women and men in consecrated life. This celebration is attached to the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord on February 2nd. As we celebrate the World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life, let us pray that this be a time of grace and growth throughout the Eparchy and that there will be a renewal of interest in vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life.

Bishop Stephanos visits St. Philip's Seminary

On January 30, 2023, The Eparchial Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos and the Chancery Secretary, Rev. Fr. Jobin Thomas visited St. Philip's Seminary in Toronto.

During the visit, Bishop Stephanos met with the Rector and Dean of the Seminary, Very Rev. Fr. Paul Pearson and with Bro. Christopher Thomas. Bro. Christopher is presently enrolled in a two-year Philosophy Program at St. Philip's Seminary. The Eparchy is grateful to Very Rev. Fr. Paul and St. Philip's Seminary for the ongoing formation and education that they are providing for Bro. Christopher.

Holy Qurbono in Austin, Texas

On Sunday, January 15, 2023, the Eparchial Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos celebrated the Holy Qurbono for the Austin, Texas Mission at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Very Rev. Dr. Saji Mukkoot, the Chancellor of the Eparchy, Rev. Fr. Binny Philip, the Vicar of St. Peter's Malankara Catholic Church in Houston, and Rev. Fr. Abraham Vavolimepurath, the Vicar of St. Mary's Syro-Malankara Catholic Church in Dallas concelebrated the Holy Qurbono along with His Excellency.

Bishop Stephanos attends Jesus Youth Awaken National Conference

The Eparchial Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos and Rev. Fr. Jobin Thomas attended the Jesus Youth Awaken National Conference which was held at the Ridgecrest Conference Center in Black Mountain, North Carolina from December 28th to December 31st. The Conference had 6 streams (Family, Young adults, Teens, middle school, Preschool, and elementary), and was very well attended. During the Conference, there was also an opportunity to celebrate the Divine Liturgy according to the Syro-Malankara Catholic Rite.

Bishop Stephanos attends the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) 2022 Fall Plenary Assembly

The Eparchial Bishop, His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos attended the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) 2022 Fall Plenary Assembly in Baltimore, which was held on November 14-17,2022.

The assembly began with an address by the Papal Nuncio to the United States, Archbishop Christophe Pierre, and Archbishop José H. Gomez of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles who gave his final address as USCCB president.

National Vocation Awareness Week November 6-12

National Vocation Awareness Week, celebrated November 6-12, 2022, is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations. Let us ask Our Lord for more dedicated, holy priests, deacons and consecrated men and women. May they be inspired by Jesus Christ, supported by our faith community, and respond generously to God’s gift of a vocation.
