Congratulations to Mr. John P. Varghese

Mr. John P. Varghese has been elected the new Secretary of the Pastoral Council of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Exarchate in the USA. As the former Pastoral Council completed its term of three years on Dec. 31, 2014, the new Council was constituted and the first meeting of the new Council was held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Exarchate Chancery. His Excellency the Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Eusebius, Bishop of the Exarchate presided over the meeting. After the members took the oath, they elected the new Secretary by secret ballot. The term of office is for three years.

Meeting of the New Pastoral Council of the Exarchate

The newly elected Pastoral Council of the Exarchate had its first meeting on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Exarchate Chancery. The meeting started with a session of prayer and reflection. Rev. Fr. Johny Mendonca, Associate Pastor at the Parish of St. Catherine of Sienna gave an introductory reflection. Rt. Rev. Msgr. Peter Kochery made the opening prayer. After the prayer service, the new Pastoral Council members took the oath before His Excellency the Most Rev. Thomas Mar Eusebius. His Excellency officially welcomed all the members to this important ministry of the Church.

Christmas Celebration of our Boston Community

The Syro-Malankara Catholic community in Boston area celebrated Christmas on Dec. 20 at the St. Brigid Parish, Lexington. The celebration started with the Christmas liturgy followed by the celebration of the Holy Qurbono. His Excellency the Most Rev. Thomas Mar Eusebius was the main celebrant and Rev. Fr. Augustine Mangalath and Rev. Fr. Abraham Lukose were concelebrants. Bro. Jerry Mathew was the main server. After the celebration of the Holy Qurbono, all the members gathered in the parish hall for a cultural program.

Southwest Region Family Conference

The Southwest region Family Conference of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Exarchate was held from 28-30 November, 2014 at the St. Mary’s Malankara Catholic parish, Dallas. This was the third of the Regional Family Conferences organized by the Exarchate this year. The Conference was inaugurated by His Excellency the Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Eusebius at 6.30 pm. on Friday, Nov. 29 and it was concluded with the Holy Qurbono on Sunday, the 30th. The main speaker of the conference was the renowned preacher Rev. Dr. Joseph Pamplany. The children, youth and the adults had separate sessions.

9th Syro-Malankara Catholic Convention Registration Kick-Off

In tune with the decision of the Exarchial Pastoral Council meeting held on October 25, 2014, the official Registration Kick-off of the 9th Syro-Malankara Catholic Convention of North America was held on November 9 at Washington. The Kick-off of the registration was officiated by His Excellency the Most Rev. Thomas Mar Eusebius after the celebration of the Sunday Holy Mass for our Washington community. Dr. Sindu Stephen generously offered to be the Grand Mega Sponsor of the Convention. His Excellency handed over the Registration Kit to Dr. Sindu Stephen and to the Stephen family.

New Place of Worship for our Washington Community

The Syro-Malankara Catholic Mission in Washington obtained a new place of worship from the Archdiocese of Washington. Henceforth the Church of the Holy Spirit in Forestville will be the place of worship for our community. Moreover, the Latin Catholic community in this parish will be given pastoral care by the Syro-Malankara Catholic priest. Both the communities will share this church for their liturgical celebrations and other such gatherings. The Malankara Catholic priest, taking care of our community will have as his residence, the Rectory attached to the parish.

Meeting of the Exarchial Pastoral Council

The second ordinary meeting of the Pastoral Council of the Exarchate of the year 2014 was held on October 25, at the Exarchial Chancery in Elmont, New York. The meeting was presided over by His Excellency the Most Rev. Thomas Mar Eusebius. Besides Rt. Rev. Msgr. Peter Kochery, the Vicar General and Mr. Philip John, the secretary of the Pastoral Council, around 35 members participated in the meeting. The meeting began at 10.00 am. and was concluded with lunch at 1.00 pm.

Malankara Catholic Community in Boston

The Malankara Catholic families living in and around Boston were gathered by His Excellency the Most Rev. Thomas Mar Eusebius on October 4, 2014 on the feast of St. Francis Assisi. The gathering took place at the Syro-Malabar Church in Framingham, thanks to Rev. Fr. Mathew VC, the pastor of the parish. His Excellency celebrated a Holy Mass for our community at 2.00 pm.. Rev. Fr. Augustine Mangalath and Rev. Fr. Abraham Lukose concelebrated the Holy Mass. Bro. Jobin Thomas was also present. After the Holy Mass, His Excellency spent some time with the Faithful in conversation.

Farewell to Fr. Mathew and Welcome to Fr. Babu

The St. Mary’s Malankara Catholic parish, Chicago bade farewell to Rev. Fr. Mathew Perumbillikiunnel, the outgoing pastor and welcomed Rev. Fr. Babu Madathiparambil, the new pastor, on Sunday, September 28, 2014 in the presence of His Excellency the Most Rev. Thomas Mar Eusebius, Bishop of the Exarchate. The Sunday Holy Qurbano was presided over by His Excellency; Fathers Mathew and Babu were the concelebrants. During the meeting after the Holy Qurbano, many people, representing the various Organizations of the parish thanked Fr.

The Exarchate is deeply thankful to Rev. Fr. Mathew Perumbillikunnel for his meritorious service to the Apostolate of Catechism in Exarchate as its Director for the past four years.
